I have been thinking about this same topic for months and talk about it often with my dad however the way you articulated the nuance and depth of it here was spot on. I am excited to join you in this new year where the ones who are brave enough are hopefully making an effort to live here in the now in the real world with real people and leave the internet in it's place.

the point on instantly going on your phone when walking into a room full of strangers hits home ! my phone feels like a shield against vulnerability in that moment - but also, a shield against opportunities to connect with others

This was such a good read, I always get so nervous to interact with people and realize how comfortable I am listening to podcasts more than talking to others. But I really do appreciate human interaction and sometimes I just stray away from it because of the feeling of awkwardness or not knowing what to say. But I'll definitely be joining you this year in getting out of my comfort zone and letting those awkward moments happen but seeing them as more natural and not overthinking it!(this post helped me gain that confidence so thank you)
